Hawaii is called "The Big Island" for good reason. Thirteen climate zones exist here. It's a good idea to plan for two or more bases for exploration during your stay. Some think they can see the island in a few days, but that is simply not possible. The long driving distances and the variety of things to experience suggest more liberal planning.
